Consultation on Williams-Shapps Plan for Rail: your chance to contribute to the RFG response

Online roundtable: 8.30 – 10am, Wed 13 July

All RFG members are invited to an online roundtable meeting to discuss the Williams-Shapps Plan for Rail. RFG is sending in a response (deadline 4 August) and is seeking input from members who wish to contribute. We have already circulated a member’s briefing on this.

The Williams-Shapps Plan for Rail sets out the proposals for rail reform at a high level. New primary legislation is an infrequent event – the last major Act for the railways was in 1993, so we can expect this legislation to set out the structure of UK rail for decades ahead.  As such it is important that the provisions provide a framework that is good for rail freight, support growth and avoid perversities.
