Forums

Why attend our Forum meetings?

RFG hosts a number of industry forums throughout the year, including Intermodal, Construction and Digital.

One of the great strengths of RFG is the wide range of companies which become members of our group. This reflects the importance of rail freight within the UK logistics sector and its wider contribution to driving innovation and productivity in the economy in general.

Within our membership we have groups of companies with a particular industry focus, and our Industry Forums aim to facilitate discussion about matters of mutual interest. Any RFG member can join any (or all) Forums and each one meets three or four times a year in person and online

Construction Forum

We run the Construction Forum in close co-operation with MPA (Mineral Products Association). The Forum discusses a wide range of topics relevant to rail-fed construction materials, including economic outlook, planning and land use, rail capability, safety and security and innovation. We have jointly worked on a number of publications on the importance of rail in this sector.

Intermodal Forum

Our Intermodal Forum, which we run in close cooperation with UKMPG (UK Major Ports Group) includes ports, terminal operators and developers, 3PLs, retailers and a wide range of other companies involved in moving sea containers around the country. This Forum has discussed a wide range of topics, including warehousing trends, challenges for international traffic and security issues, and we have also published information on the importance of rail in this sector.

Digital Forum

We have found that digital solutions are becoming increasingly important so we established a Technology, Innovation and Digital Forum to discuss the latest developments, including topics such as open data, intelligent wagons, preventative maintenance and maximising rail freight performance.
