Response to DfT consultation on Minimum Service Levels for Passenger Rail
Rail Freight Group (RFG) was pleased to respond to the DfT consultation on Minimum Service Levels for Passenger Rail. Recent industrial action (May 2023) has caused significant disruption for rail freight customers and operators. Despite the good work of Network Rail to keep as many trains moving as possible, strike days saw less than 20% of normal services able to operate, with some customers having no service at all.
Our members are pleased that the most recent dispute has now been settled but are concerned over the potential for future action. At the same time, many of our members also recognise trade unions, and work to ensure that they have good industrial relationships with their staff and representative unions. Managing this relationship is a matter for each business individually.
