RFG announces new Board members

The Rail Freight Group (RFG) is delighted to welcome its new Board members, each voted in during its AGM and Autumn Meeting on 8 November 2023.

The newly appointed Board members are:

Sabrina is the Chief Revenue Officer at Everysens, a European tech company that digitises rail freight operations from A to Z. Sabrina has more than 10 years of experience in business development, marketing and customer relations in Europe, the US and Asia. Her main interest is to leverage technology to establish rail freight as the lever to decarbonize transport.

On her appointment, Sabrina said: “I’m excited to join the Board of the Rail Freight Group as we embark on a journey toward a greener and more efficient future for transport in Europe. I believe that digitization will have a concrete impact on the decarbonization of our industries, and I am committed to making rail freight in the UK a key player in this transformation. Together with RFG, we will drive the mission to increase rail freight, foster collaboration in the ecosystem and lead the charge towards a more sustainable transport landscape.”

Alex launched his railway career at Network Rail as a graduate manager and progressed through roles in the Freight and National Passenger Operator (FNPO) function, System Operator, and Supply Chain Operations (SCO). In 2020, he assumed the role of Head of Infrastructure at GB Railfreight (GBRf), where he managed its contracts with infrastructure managers, oversaw the supply chain, and played a vital role in handling HS2 construction traffic. Alex’s extensive experience and accomplishments have established him as a prominent figure in the rail industry.

Alex said: “I’m thrilled to join the Board of RFG, with my deep passion for rail freight and unwavering commitment to sustainability, together we’re set to propel the industry towards a brighter, greener future.”

Lee joined ABP as the Group Head of Commercial for Rail in 2020. Lee has over 20 years of management experience in operational and commercial roles, where he has been successful in delivering excellent customer service, ensuring costs are controlled and winning new business. Lee has worked in the railway industry for more than 35 years, working for British Rail, DB Cargo, and GB Railfreight where he was the Commercial Director.

Lee added: “I am delighted to become a member of the RFG Board. The RFG has been an important part of my career and supported rail freight business development in my roles with various companies over the last 20 years. I am honoured to be part of the Board and assist the RFG team in continuing its success.”

On the appointments Maggie Simpson OBE, Rail Freight Group (RFG), said: “We are delighted to have Sabrina, Alex and Lee on board and I would like to welcome each of them. Between them, they bring a wealth of experience across completely different areas of rail freight and the wider industry, and I know they will be of great benefit to RFG.”
