RFG launches its 2024 Cross-Member Mentoring Programme
The Rail Freight Group (RFG) is delighted to open its 2024 cross–member rail freight mentoring programme, helping its members develop their skills and industry knowledge.
Making the announcement at RFG’s AGM and Autumn members’ meeting on 8 November, programme lead Deanne Logan from Mulberry & Mint said: “The Cross-Member Mentoring Programme gives anyone working in freight the opportunity to develop new skills and expand their knowledge across many different areas over a 12-month period. Our pilot scheme was a real success and we’ve had some great feedback from those involved. The top five skills mentees have developed with their mentors include greater business insight, communication skills, building a network, self-awareness and strategic mindset.”
The programme provides the opportunity to establish a learning relationship between mentors and mentees, enabling the sharing of skills and knowledge. Everyone involved attends a virtual one-hour introductory training session, which helps everyone fully understand the expectations required. The programme is based on six to 12 meetings (online is fine) and quarterly support calls. Many of the relationships have also included site visits, as part of the learning process, with very positive feedback.
Maggie Simpson OBE, Director General, Rail Freight Group (RFG), added: “Our mentoring scheme aims to help people grow their careers and develop their skills, whilst also gaining more knowledge about the rail freight industry in all its different aspects. We would really encourage anyone to sign up, as a mentor or mentee to ensure our 2024 programme is as successful as our pilot scheme.”
