RFG News – Issue 133 – December 2018
The December 2018 edition leads on the disappointing news that the Transpennine upgrade work will now not include provision for freight trains, pushing yet more freight onto the already busy motorway.
On page 2, RFG sets out the critical freight needs ahead of the anticipated Rail Review and included details of the new Call for Evidence on page 4. We urge all of our members to consider feeding into the debate, where appropriate for them to do so.
On a brighter note, RFG’s Christmas Lunch was another fantastic success and we were delighted to welcome the new CEO of Network Rail, Andrew Haines OBE, as our guest of honour. There is a photo gallery on pages 5-7.
This issue also includes details of the popular Rail Staff Christmas Carol Service (page 9), held tomorrow lunchtime at St Mary’s Somers Town, London. It’s well worth attending if you are in the area.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed articles and opinions this year and look forward to the same success in 2019. Special thanks to Jonathan Roberts at JR Consulting and Stephen Humphries and Liz Dunn at Burges Salmon, our regular columnists.
We would like to wish all of our members a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2019.
