The December 2023 issue of RFG News, the Rail Freight Group’s regular newsletter, has now been published.
In our final edition of the year, we cover our recent RFG Xmas Lunch, which was again a popular and colourful event and a highlight of the rail freight calendar. We welcomed more than 800 members and guests and were delighted that Rail Minister Huw Merriman MP could join us as our guest of honour. The event also raised a record £6700 for our chosen charity the Railway Benefit Fund.
Inside, we cover Freightliner’s call on Government to set ambitious growth targets for rail freight and note the Mode Shift Revenue Support grant review call for evidence, which closes 19 January.
We report on our latest webinar ‘Improving maximum payloads through better calculations’, and thank you to Aaron Barrett, Lead Research Analyst, RSSB, and Ralph Goldney, Railfreight Consulting for leading the discussion.
Also, our regular columnist Richard Moody, Programme Director (Freight Reform) at GBRTT, discusses another busy year at the Strategic Freight Unit and particularly the opportunities for express freight on rail.
Thank you to everyone who has written articles for us and contributed news this year, your support is vital to the newsletter.
