RFG News – September 2021 – Issue 149

The 149th issue of RFG News is now available to download here.

The September 2021 issue leads with our Annual Awards night and the announcement that Tarmac was named as the RFG’s Business of the Year award winner.

The evening, which was held on 9 September at the De Vere Latimer Hotel near Chesham in Buckinghamshire, was a huge success. It provided a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work and achievements of rail freight workers and companies from right across the sector. A gallery of images and judges’ comments starts on page 8.

Along with our usual awards categories, two special Covid Hero Awards were added this year to recognise the huge contribution made by the rail freight industry to keep goods moving throughout the pandemic.

A special mention has to be made to Heather Waugh of Freightliner who won Outstanding Individual Contribution, recognising her work in encouraging more women to consider rail freight as a career and her tireless campaigning for greater mental health awareness.

Congratulations to all of the winners and runners-up on the night and a huge thank you to our awards sponsors Burges Salmon and GB Railfreight. It was fantastic to see so many members and colleagues face to face and a raffle for Railway Benefit Fund raised £2640.

Also in this issue, we welcome a guest article from ForrestBrown and Jonathan Roberts our regular Westminster Column contributor.

We would also like to welcome our latest new members: Angel Trains, Fenix Rail Systems, Story Contracting, Legge Infrastructure Services, Rail Cargoliner, Oleo International, Samskip Multimodal BV, Ovinto, and Hitachi Rail.
