RFG has been very busy recently promoting rail freight right across the UK, inviting experts to share their views and experience at events in England, Scotland and Wales. In Scotland, we were delighted to welcome Alex Hynes, MD of Scotland’s Railway and Bill Reeve, Director of Rail at Transport Scotland, who outlined the ambitious plans to grow rail freight in the country. In Wales, there is a rail freight renaissance underway and Lee Waters MS, and Nick Millington, Route Director Wales and Borders, Network Rail, outlined the huge potential for modal shift.
Inside this issue, on page 3, there is a link for members to book tickets for our Spring Group Meeting in Southampton and a reminder that there are places available for anyone wanting to exhibit at Multimodal on the Rail Freight Pavilion.
We welcome a number of guest articles this issue, our regular Westminster Update column from JR Consulting as well as from the Great British Railways Transition Team (GBRTT).
